Always Time For Thanks

Always Time For Thanks

Once again we find ourselves asking where the year went as we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

No sooner was Halloween over when I spied Christmas decorations out in full swing at the local Mart.

WAIT!!! What happened to Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is my husband’s favorite holiday. No gifts, no decorations. Just time to break bread with loved ones, enjoy their company, and be grateful for the abundance we have.

Abundance: a relative degree of plentifulness; a large portion of something.

Do you have abundance in your life? What are you thankful for in this season of your life?

I am thankful for you! I am thankful that God gave me the talents He did to help others like you!  And to show that appreciation I would love to invite you to my Holiday Open House.

Saturday November 16 11-2pm
3138 Lange Terrace 80918

Brunch will be served, and mimosas will be free flowing. People often ask me if my house is super organized. Do I practice what I preach?  Well, come and see for yourself!

I will have a special gift for you to say thank you for another record breaking year in business for MAS Movement LLC.

Please RSVP if you can, by responding to this email or on the Facebook event.

Godspeed,

Welcome Home

No doubt it has been a busy summer. I hope you had plenty of time to get away and get outside! Were you successful at avoiding spring cleaning and any summer projects?
With the change of season upon us once again, have you found any organizing skeletons in your closets?
Many ask if I am super busy in the summer. The truth is that folks find summer the perfect time to escape and further avoid their looming organizing tasks.  As fall settles in, so does panic as people realize not only are there previously undone projects to complete, but now the holidays loom…turning what should be a joyful time into added stress.

Here are a few tips to ease you in to the holiday spirit and lighten your load at the same time.

 1. Decide how much space you have to store holiday decor (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas). Now is the time to pick up holiday storage containers for EASY identification.

Orange = HalloweenBrown = Thanksgiving/FallRed/Green = Christmas

Keep it all contained and stay within YOUR limits.  Only you can decide what is enough.

 2. Before the next trip to the grocery store, take the opportunity to wipe out your less-full fridge. Toss the science project, or use it for a disgusting, disposable Halloween decoration. Check the pantry, too.  Take stock. What can you purchase now to be prepared for impromptu holiday parties and cookie exchanges?
You do not have to toss out dated food.  Gently expired non perishables can go to a local food charity like Crossfire Ministries. They can redistribute them to the needy under FDA regulations.

 3. Include the kids.  Most of us want for very little, including the little ones.  Take the time now to go through toys and clothes.  Include the kids in decisions to let things go. Ask children, “how many gifts do you think you will receive this year?” Ask them if they would be willing to share an old toy with a little boy or girl who might not receive any gifts at all.

There are still plenty of days left in 2013

What Are You Waiting For?!?

September is National Preparedness Month

This month MAS Movement LLC will reprise its class on emergency preparedness.  The summer fires of 2012/13 linger in the hearts and minds of local residents.  Some folks have found their way back home, others are still waiting; and then there are those of us who escaped unscathed.  That is to say, many of our homes remain intact but we were shaken into the realization that this, too, could happen to us.

Join us September 10, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Peregrine to discuss how to be prepared and learn about a few tools to help you along the way.

Please RSVP for the class so we can be prepared! This is just a drill; the actual emergency would be running out of wine and hors d’oeuvres at the event because we didn’t know you were coming 🙂

You can also click here for a sneak peek at our Emergency Binder which will be highlighted during the class, along with our other products.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Getting Ready

We set a record this year with Colorado’s largest fire in the state’s history before having the opportunity to commemorate last year’s fire of the same notoriety, at the time.

If being disorganized wasn’t headache enough, many Coloradans found themselves panicking to pack the most important documents and possessions in this evacuation emergency.

Are you a residence that has been displaced this year or last? Or were you  miles from the fire still caught wondering if you had to go, what would you take?

My family was fortunate in both instances, but that did not stop me from seeing the necessity of taking inventory and making a plan.

So what are some simple steps you can take now to prepare a plan and alleviate panic, at least to some extent?

1. Take pictures and/or video of your entire home, garage, and outbuildings. Go room by room, taking pictures of the rooms as a whole and up-close pictures of high-value items.  Try to get a close, still shot of the serial numbers. Burn digital pictures to a CD or download them to a USB drive.

2. Gather your important documents into one place along with your photo inventory. Important documents include: Social Security cards, passports, vehicle titles, birth, marriage,  and death certificates, high-value receipts, financial information, wills, deeds, and previous taxes.

Important Documents Binder

3. Create an evacuation list. Again going room by room, what would you grab? What is truly irreplaceable? Organize your list by priority. What would you grab if you only had 10 minutes to evacuate? What would you grab if you had up to 30 minutes?

Evacuation List 10&30 min  Note this template comes in the important documents binder.

A few hours of preparation when the stakes are low will greatly improve your ability to implement your plan. When a true emergency strikes emotions are running high and panic has set in.

MAS Movement LLC offers emergency evacuation planning as well as an Important Documents Bbinder for easy storage, general access, or to grab and go.

As always, MAS Movement LLC offers a free one hour consultation to assess your needs.

Happy New Year Kick Off Class

Well it was a whirl wind of a year end!  December brought new opportunities to grow my business, new clients and new products!  MAS Movement LLC finished its best year ever, doubling previous years’ gross revenues!!!

I have found it a bit daunting to pick up momentum in the new year 2013. But there is no time like the present to change perspective and start moving ahead.

My goal this year is to reach more people who hate clutter, people who are overwhelmed, people who want to take back their time and space, people who need a lot of help, people who need a little, people just considering doing something different.  Are any of these people you?

To kick off the new year, January 22 MAS Movement LLC will be hosting a FREE time management class at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Peregrine  off  Woodman Road.

( 7740 Deer Hill Grove  Colorado Springs, CO 80919 in the Woodman Room to the left of the entrance)

During the class we will discuss:

getting things done
overcoming procrastination
doing the right things
margin and goals

It’s a new year, time to step out on the right foot. Let the past lie behind, come for a fresh perspective and some renewing encouragement to make 2013 a pivotal year in your life.

Please RSVP to help us be prepared. 719 352 1590 or jessica@masmovement.com

Just in time for the holidays!

2 Shopportunites! Is one right for you this season?

So many times, I have discussed with clients the value of their stuff.  I have offered eBay services on higher priced items but always wondered how I could help my clients turn their clutter into cash and/or offset the cost of my organizing services.  Well, about a month ago I found myself in the Willowstone Antique Marketplace (at Dublin/Academy next to Sprouts) and now find myself the owner of a consignment booth there…

Fearless Perspective

What scares you, I mean REALLY scares you? Being in a car accident? Loss of a loved one? Your kids not going to college and struggling in life? Losing your job?  Why do I make such awful suggestions, PERSPECTIVE.

Psychology Today defines FEAR as a vital response to physical and emotional danger—if we didn’t feel it, we couldn’t protect ourselves from legitimate threats. But often we fear situations that are far from life-or-death, and thus hang back for no good reason.

“Perfect” Timing

Timing is everything.  Whether we call it a coincidence or answer to prayer… I believe most things happen at the right time.

Today I met a client with familiar obstacles: too much stuff, too little time, too little motivation and not enough help.

Can I help her get a handle on the cluttered rooms, find a system that works for her and encourage her to build habits that will bring calm to her space?  I will do my best.  Could we have started before now? Possibly, but the bottom line is that she is ready now.  And here is the kicker… she picked up my business card over 3 years ago!!!

So what takes a person so long to make a decision or do something different?  Procrastination, fear, unrealistic expectations of themselves or other? Maybe a bit of each of these.

What is procrastination?
